Hourly Rate: $14/hr + 5% of Food Sales

Job Description:

Are you passionate about culinary arts and eager to embark on a journey to become a skilled operator in a dynamic environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Back-of-House Apprentice in the vibrant O'Bryonville area.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for aspiring culinary professionals to kickstart their careers in a supportive environment. As an apprentice, you will receive direct one-on-one coaching from our owner, Tim. If you're ready to learn, grow, and contribute to our culinary success, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Fundamental Kitchen Learning: Gain hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in a wine bar kitchen environment. You will work closely with our owner, Tim to learn the ins and outs of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety protocols.

  • Product Procurement: Assist in procuring high-quality ingredients and products for our menu offerings. This will involve vendor communication, inventory management, and ensuring our kitchen is well-stocked with fresh and top-notch ingredients.

  • Recipe Development: Collaborate with our culinary experts to develop creative and delicious recipes that align with our wine bar's concept. You'll have the opportunity to contribute your culinary ideas and learn how to refine and balance flavors to create exceptional dishes.

  • Cost Analysis: Participate in cost analysis exercises to understand the financial aspects of running a kitchen. Learn how to optimize ingredient usage, manage expenses, and contribute to maintaining profitability.

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with our kitchen team, under the guidance of experienced chefs and cooks, to assist in the preparation of menu items. Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen environment that encourages learning and growth.

Requirements:

  • A strong passion for food and culinary arts.

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced kitchen staff.

  • Detail-oriented with an interest in cost analysis and menu development.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and handle multiple tasks.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Must be available for evening shifts, including weekends. Our kitchen closes at 9 p.m., ensuring a reasonable work schedule.
